Baptism and Marriage Record Requests
Here's the kind of information we need for two of the most popular types of requests:
Baptism Record Requests
- Full name of the child baptized
- Names of the parents
- Date of baptism
- Name of the church where the baptism took place; if unknown, name of the officiating minister may help
Marriage Record Requests
- Names of the couple
- Date of marriage
- Name of the church where the marriage took place; if unknown, name of the officiating minister may help
Note about Provincial Privacy Law
The Protection of Personal Information Act requires that the Archives restrict access to records containing personal information except where:
- The records pertain to the person requesting the information (i.e. you may request your own baptism or marriage record)
- The person to whom the information pertains submits a signed letter of consent to the Archives, indicating that the information may be given to a specified third party
- The records are 100 years old or more
- The person to whom the information pertains has been deceased for more than 20 years
