I am writing to let you know of an opportunity Partners in Mission Unit is once again offering to United Church people this Fall. We are planning a second enhanced Learning for International Faith Engagement (LIFE) Seminar that will take place from Wednesday, October 31 to Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. International Faith Engagement is a new way of looking at education and exposure trips, as the accompaniment or hosting of experiential learning opportunities. This seminar combines LIFE training with an opportunity for lived experience. 
 
The enhanced LIFE Seminar is a unique chance to live out principles and practices, and to connect with global partners about their experiences of hosting. As with last year’s seminar in Cuba, it is our hope to include global partners who are interested in becoming hosts for education and exposure visits. 
 
We have room for 13 people and are asking each conference to nominate two to be considered for the trip. While it is likely that only one nominee will be chosen, we would like to have a pool of interested people so that we can try to balance participation and ensure all available spaces are filled. Participants will be asked to be part of the LIFE network, a group of engaging "interpreters" who are willing to share their experience widely through the courts of the church. 
 
The deadline for applications is July 6, 2012 and can be submitted to pip [at] united-church [dot] ca or sent in hard copy to Church House. We kindly request that each completed application be endorsed by the Conference Office or by another referee. The relevant forms are attached below.
