Some Facts about Presbytery Pastoral Relations Committees
Every presbytery is required by the manual to have a Pastoral Relations Committee
- The committee makes recommendations to presbytery who has the power to act
- The Pastoral Relations Committee has numerous resources available to assist in the work of the committee
- The Pastoral Relations Committee is a confidential, consultative body that supports the pastoral relationship
Who’s on a Pastoral Relations committee?
- Lay and Ordered rep to Settlement
- At least three other members
- Minimum of two ordered and two lay members
- One of the representatives to Settlement shall be the convener
Duties:
- Liaison between Presbytery and Pastoral Charge
- Advice and Consultation
- Facilitate conversation about the Pastoral Relationship at the congregational level
- Oversee changes in Pastoral Relations
- Administer appointments
- Supply
- Interim
