Support to Congregations Ministry Team

This Team addresses the emerging needs of ministry in Kootenay Presbytery. It consists of a small group who discern the ministry needs of our Presbytery, name these needs and facilitate any action needed to respond.

Licensed Lay Leaders Worship Course

This is a project of this committee, which has offered a series of courses to train lay people to lead worship. Some of the challenges are:

needing a policy regarding remuneration and
how to recognize those who have completed the course.

Licensed Lay Worship Leaders’ Course

The course is designed to offer lay people an opportunity, in a setting within Kootenay Presbytery, to develop or enrich your skills in worship leadership. A brochure from St. Stephen's College, Edmonton, has this description: the participants must have a sense of call to Christian ministry and exhibit a sense of passion in the faith.

They must successfully complete the courses and demonstrate the integration of that study into daily life and work. We offer the course in six modules:

Module One: Introduction
Module Two: Introduction to Hebrew Scriptures
Module Three: Introduction to Christian Scriptures
Module Four: Introduction to the Study of Theology and Church History
Module Five: Worship and the Art of Preaching
Module Six: Pastoral Care and Preaching

Licensing by Kootenay Presbytery follows a process of evaluation by the Presbytery Education and Students Committee.

People so licensed will be offered opportunities within Kootenay Presbytery to share in the worship life of their congregation and others.
